Valley of The Waters Bush Walk

For the longest time now, I  have been eager to do a bush walk in the Blue Mountains. My Aunt and Uncle have a holiday home near Katoomba and when we were little they used to take my sister and I up for "child friendly" walks, but that's close to 12 years ago.

Taking into consideration how clumsy, uncoordinated and how horrible my sense of direction is, I thought that it would probably be best to partake in a guided walking tour. So after a bit of research and grilling my Aunt, I came across a group called Tread LightlyIt may seem a little pricey, but for the knowledge that I was going to come out of this alive and unscathed, I was willing to splurge.

Tim, our guide, was so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable o the plants, animals and history of the surrounding area. He was also very practised in photography and gave me some great pointers, which resulted in some truly spectacular shots. Lunch and water were both provided on the walk, he even catered to my vegetarian diet!

Originally we were a bit dismayed by the cold whether, rain and persisting fog - I mean it had be a beautiful 26*C the day before. There was an impressive amount of fog, present from the time we rolled up the mountain right up until the day we left. Luckily the density of it came and went, meaning I got a couple clear shots. At one point when we stopped for lunch and we had one of our first clear views on the enormous area. Less than five minutes later the fog rolled in and it was all completely lost again.

This tree has been dubbed, by the locals, as the "Winnie the Pooh Bear" tree - the likeness is uncanny
