Australian Beauty Product Reviews - NKDBODY, Frank Body, Hair & Me and Hello Hair

Lately, through social media, I have had the happy coincidence of stumbling across a few up and coming Australian beauty products. Anytime I hear about or see that a products is produced and sold within Australia the cheap-ass inside me starts cheering because you know what that means don't you? I don't have to sell and arm and a leg to afford shipping.

Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub

Price point:  $14.95 (free shipping within Australia)

What It Claims To Do: Scrubs away dry, flaky skin and targets cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.

What It Actually Does:  My very first impression after using this was "Sh*t my skin has never felt this soft!", it's smooth and hydrated and I can't wait to use this product again.

My only issues with this product - and I know I am not the only one with this problem - is the amount of product wastage. It's a dry product that goes on dry skin so a majority tends to just roll straight off.
I've found that if I slightly dampen - and I mean slightly, too much water and the grains will just dissolve - my hands before scooping out the product it helps the scrub to stick to my skin whilst still maintaining all the qualities of a good scrub.

As a long time sufferer of stretch marks I am well aware that they don't really ever go away - you just have to come to terms with them and find a way to love them (hard, I know). So I wasn't expecting much in they way of a miracle skin fix but rather just smooth and soft skin. After using this coffee scrub for a couple weeks I am also happy to report that I have noticed a small amount of fading and my skin looks slightly more toned - I am really hoping that it's not all just a placebo.

Whats In It: Coffea Robusta Seed Powder, Sweet Almond Oil, Water, Sea Salt, Brown Sugar, Orange Oil, Vitamin E and Natural Fragrance.

Hair and Me Rejuvenation Treatment

Price point:  $19.95

What It Claims To Do:  Designed to help repair, moisturise and strengthen your scalp and hair. It claims to have between 2-4 treatments within the pack and using once a week, results should be noticeable within 3-6weeks.

What It Actually Does:  Unlike some other oils I have used (straight up coconut oil and the Organix coconut oil) it hasn't left my hair feeling heavy or greasy even after I wash it out. I have noticed that my hair looks healthier because it's got that nice "Panteen-Ad-Glossy" look. I have "just touches my shoulders" short hair so I think I will definitely be able to get more than the suggested 2-4 treatments, maybe 6-7.

Whats In It: Jojoba Oil, Macadamia Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

Hello Hair Hydrating Mask

Price point: $15.00 (free shipping within Australia)

What It Claims To Do:  Reconstrusts and strengthens stressed out and damaged hair. It assists in the management of dandruff and dry, flaky scalp issues. It leaves your hair feeling softer and easier to manage after use. An average treatment uses about 25g of product (meaning you should get about 4 treatments out of this pack) and using once weekly, results should be noticeable in 4-6 weeks.

What It Actually Does:  In all honesty I have actually noticed very little difference in my hair after using this treatment. No shine, no volume, not soft to touch, unfortunately my hair has felt quite fluffy and undefined.  On a more positive note, I do think I have noticed less fallout (of hair) when brushing through my hair, so perhaps instead of improving the aesthetics of my hair it's improving the quality.  I do also prefer the smell of Hello Hair to that of Hair and Me.

Whats In It: Virgin Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Olive Leaf Extract and Castor Oil.

NKDBODY Black Clay Mask

Price point:  $17.95 (free shipping within Australia)

What It Claims To Do:  Its a rejuvenating pick-me-up and a final solution of all f your skin concerns - Dry, acne prone, over oily, blackheads and uneven tones - so suitable for most skin types. The main ingredient (Clay) helps to stimulate circulation while gently exfoliating.

What It Actually Does: I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this product. I've been pretty happy with the effect that it has had on my skin. Clay masks as a rule of thumb generally leave my skin feeling a bit tight and dehydrated (even though I have oily skin) but this one just left my skin clean, balanced, hydrated and glowing! It is a very thin consistency so I found that it was dry in about all of 5mins

My only issue with it is, it's messy as f**k and it stains. If you guys have ever used the product "Dark Angles" from lush then you will know a little about what I mean - only this is like 5 times harder to remove. It is jet black and seems to settle in all the little crevices on your face, neck, hands, nails and heck it even stained my basin! I think perhaps next time, to save me the hassle I will try getting the original clay mask from NKDBODY.

Whats In It:  Clay (Kaloin), Natural Black Oxide, Purified Aqua, Olive Leaf Extract, Arnica Flower Extract, Ginseng Extract, Natural Coconut Flavour and Phenoxyethanol (1% and the only non-natural ingredient).

Shoe Art - ASOS Performer Pointed Heel

ASOS - Performer Pointed High Heel

I all honesty I'm not sure I am actually going to be a be to walk in these. The heel reaches 4 inches and without any platform the angle is just too much and it seems to put a bit too much strain on my ankles and knees - yes do I realise I am 21 but sound 70, I inherited bad joints, sue me.

Despite the height the actual shoe itself is a comfortable fit.  I am not usually a fan of a pointed toe as I find it just makes my foot look bigger, so I downsized a bit when choosing these as I figured with a backless heel I could get away with a smaller size.

I would recommend being a bit gentle with these shoes as while the decorations attached aren't flimsy they do have a degree of movement and so could snap or chip.

ASOS are going to be releasing a pink versions on these shoes come October and I am eager to get my little paws on them - they might not be the easiest to walk in but to me they are a form of art.

Current Top Five Favourite (Non Matte) Red Lipsticks

1. MAC - Petite Red (Limited Edition)

Price Point: Whatever is on Ebay,  Sorry
I know, it is absolutely cruel to mention something that is limited edition, if I were you I would be yelling derogatory things at the computer screen right now. But it's such a great product it deserves a mention and hey! I actually found mine on Ebay after it had sold out on the MAC website. The colour is ever so slightly, like right on the edge, on the pinker side of the red spectrum and so has a subtle blue undertone (as opposed to an orange).
Satin is my favourite finish (for MAC) because you get the longevity of a matte lipstick with the hydrating creamy texture of a lustre - it really is the best of both worlds. Also as they eventually start to wear they leave behind a stain so the don't actually look like they are fading.

2. MAC - Rebel

Price Point: $36AUD
Another glorious satin finish from MAC. This colour stars off as a beautiful berry colour and builds up to deep purple-red. It's great for when I am feel in a bit lazy and don't want to put any effort into a dramatic eye look - just whack on a bit of liner to balance it out and
voila you have a sultry and bold makeup look.

3. TOOFACED - Melted Strawberry

Price Point: $28AUD
I am all over this lipstick like a cheap suit! It is a super hydrating barley-feels-like-it's-there product that seems to just glow giving a beautiful, healthy and full appearance to the lips. The orange undertone gives of a very summer-y vibe. Liquid lipsticks are a big craze at the moment and Too Faced has absolutely shamed it !

4. RIMMEL - Apocalyps Big Bang

Price Point: $15.95AUD
While I am really not a huge fan of the application - a spongey/furry doe foot which doesn't allow for that nice crisp and precise line that I usually strive for in a bold lip - I am willing to look past it because these colours are sensational! The formula is incredibly creamy and hydrating and oh lordy that pigmentation. I know I am only supposed to be mentioning red lipsticks but while I'm on this topic I though I would throw in that I am also head over heels for ……. a great alternative for when I am over reds.

5. NATIO - Rush

Price Point : $14.95AUD
After hours of trolling through Miss Victory Violet's (a stunning New Zealand Pinup expert) blog I came across a list of some of her favourite red lip products. Of the three she listed Natio Rush stood out to me the most, not only because she stated that it was her all time go-to, but also because of the way she described the colour and the formula. The Formula of this lipstick seems to me quite similar to a  MAC satin lipstick - it is richly pigmented, long-lasting yet still very creamy and hydrating. It's an intense blue toned red and of what I have listed is probably the second (to MAC Rebel) darkest.

On My Whislist
There are two lipsticks in particular that I am itching to get my little paws on - Besame Red Hot Red and Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Black Tie.
